What’s it all about
Well what are these articles going to be about as part of these new and artfully updated website (thanks Cam).
Water
Well, they are about water. They’re about water AND the environment. And the way water makes the environment possible. It makes life possible. We are 70 per cent water. Water moves things around in the environment in a good way. It is a solvent and a carrier and a provider, a provider of energy among other things. It is a store. It makes life possible in all of its manifold and various extraordinary and attractive forms.
Quote from Richard Attenborough
I do like this quote from Richard Attenborough (which I had said it but it wouldn’t have carried the weight): ‘It seems to em that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much that makes life worth living.” The quote is a guiding light for me.
Water policy and …
Then it is about water policy, the way we think about water, and the way we fail to think about water. So it is about us as people, our strengths, weaknesses and possibilities. It is about what surrounds us, about the environment of which we are part and we are embedded in no matter how much we try to separate ourselves. So it is a little about philosophy.
Who?
Initially I’ll write the articles. I happen to find a joy in writing but as the audience builds I’ll be inviting other associates to contribute.
Picture worthy of a 1000 words
I like taking photos and I like looking at photos, and know it’s a cliche but a good cliche still remains useful: a picture is worth a thousand words. So that too will be part of these articles. Here is some watery video of mine that I just happen to particularly like that conveys some of my passion for water
