One of the strengths of the Birrarung Act is accountability. Too often with environmental issues, they are overlooked, ignored or swept under the doormat. With public reporting, at least we know what is happening. The Commissioner of Envirionmental Sustainability shows the Yarra Birrarung is yet to be improving. The government needs to incorporate the Land Use Planning Framework in the Yarra Strategic Plan into the State Planning Schemes – urgently.
